The OIC Banjul Summit is the 15th edition of the Islamic Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It will be held in Banjul, The Gambia from 4 – 5th May 2024. Presidents, Kings, Sultans, Prime Ministers, Rulers, and other world leaders from the fifty-seven (57) member countries of the OIC and beyond are expected to be in attendance.

In preparation for this historic event, our government under the leadership of President Adama Barrow has earmarked a range of infrastructural developments aimed at ensuring a memorable experience for the delegate as well as improving the lives and livelihood of people in the country.

  • Strengthening unity in collectively addressing the pressing challenges facing the Ummah.
  • Expanding cooperation and solidarity among member countries in the pursuit of our shared goals as enshrined in the charter.
  • Expand our domestic economy and revitalize small and medium enterprises.
  • Taking the opportunity to share the wealth of Gambian and African culture with the world.

The Gambia’s Chairmanship of the OIC

  • Amplify our advocacy for unity and oneness of the Ummah in confronting teething challenges facing Muslims all over the world;
  • Generate maximum attention to the voices and plight of the ummah especially in the global south;
  • Champion greater collaboration between the more prosperous and advanced member countries and their counterparts in the global south in areas of science and technology, entrepreneurship, trade, among other critical areas.
